12th Annual Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing

On Monday, May 9, the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce will host the 12th Annual Golf Tournament in memory of former Executive Director Paul Ralston.

This year, the golf committee has again partnered with the Ritz-Carlton Membership Club to offer an unforgettable
private outing.  Because the club is typically open to members only, this presents a unique and possibly one of a kind opportunity for Chamber members and guests to play a round at this course, which was designed by world renowned architect Tom Fazio.

There are still sponsorship opportunities available to show your support and get your name in front of tournament players and the local community.  Truly, with the deeply discounted rate we're able to offer for green fees and dinner following the round, and the low cost, high value sponsorship opportunities open to members, we expect to have an even better tournament this year.

Sponsorship opportunities start as low as $40, and the cost for a foursome is only $125 per player (includes green fees, cart fee and dinner following the event)!

For full sponsorship and tournament details click here, or phone us at 349.3800

Neighborhood Safety Forum

On Thursday, February 24, the Siesta Key Village Association held a public neighborhood safety forum at the Daiquiri Deck Raw Bar in north Siesta Village.  In attendance were members of the Village Association, the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce and the Siesta Key Association.  The forum was an opportunity for residents and merchants to discuss area safety with officers from the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.  Representing the Sheriff's Department were Captain Richards and Sergeant Osbourne.

According to the 2010 Sheriff's Office data, overall crime dropped by seven percent when compared to 2009.  Other data furnished by the department included:
  • Total Index (violent & nonviolent) Offenses:  -7.6%
  • Calls for Service: -2%
  • Total Arrests: -11.9%
  • DUI Arrests: +17%
  • Traffic Citations: +5.3%
  • Traffic Fatalities: -13%
Those in attendance also discussed noise and disturbances in Siesta Village.  Sheriff's Office representatives also explained their additional coverage during peak times like Spring Break.

Exclusive Vendor Booth Opportunity

Calling all Siesta Key Chamber member restaurateurs, retailers and service providers!  The Chamber Tourism and Marketing Committee has established a great opportunity for Chamber members to promote their businesses and earn some additional income for a small investment.  As it stands, this opportunity is exclusive to Siesta Key Chamber members only!

Fiesta on Siesta Key- 2011, a two day Collegiate Volleyball event returning to Siesta Beach again this year, April 16th and 17th, is looking for businesses to participate in a Vendor Area on the beach during the Tournament.  The all college tournament attracts over 25 participating colleges from Florida and the southeast and approximately 10,000 attendees and spectators over the 2 days - a wonderful demographic for many of our member businesses and a great way to promote the area.  All participants will be staying in the immediate vicinity for the weekend.  Participation in this vendor opportunity could drive additional business into your location!

To obtain a vendor application or for more information, please e-mail Dave Carstenson - dcars@verizon.net.  Registration for a vendor space is $350 for Saturday and Sunday and proof of liability insurance must be provided.  You must bring your own 10 x 10 tent and space is allocated on a first come-first served basis.  One VIP parking space will be assigned for each vendor space rented.  This organization is committed to making certain that business types are not duplicated and vendors are limited so as to effectively promote vendor wares and services during the weekend.

This is another great opportunity that you don't want to miss.   For more information about the event click here

The Tourism and Marketing Committee is helping to coordinate the promotion of this local event.   Please feel free to e-mail Maria Bankemper or call Kevin at 941-349-3800 if you have any questions or need further assistance.

Chamber Announces Partnership With Sarasota Memorial Health Care System

We are proud to announce that the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Sarasota Memorial Charter Health Plan.  Charter Health Plan is a unique health plan for your business right in your community.  This affordable employee health care insurance plan is offered exclusively by Sarasota Memorial Health Care System and is designed for small businesses in the local area.

Both the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce and the Sarasota Memorial Health Care System have a deep  understanding of the need for small business owners and employees to have access to comprehensive and affordable group health insurance.

With that similar understanding, our organizations have developed a partnership whereby Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce members, and their employees, are able to receive a 10% discount on Charter Health Plan's already affordable comprehensive health insurance coverage.

For information about coverage options, call 941.917.8500 or visit the Charter Health Plan website by clicking here.

If you have any questions regarding the Charter Health Plan, the Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, or this partnership, please contact Kevin by emailing

kevin@siestakeychamber.com or phoning 941.349.3800.

New Accommodations Hot Sheet System Officially Live

The Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce provides a service to our accommodations members that allows our Chamber volunteers to relay availability information to thousands of calls we receive each year.  We are proud to announce the launch of a new system that will allow our accommodations members to take advantage of this opportunity online, 24/7, at their convenience.

This is undoubtedly a more efficient and easier to use method of relaying up-to-date availability to prospective visitors who contact the Chamber.  Members not currently participating are missing out on a substantial membership benefit!!

Accommodations members are strongly encouraged to setup their account as, going forward, this will be the exclusive system used by the Chamber.  Set up should only take around twenty minutes and then, going forward, the required time will be minimal.

For a complete users tutorial, click here.

For questions related to your account and setup, contact Tess by phoning 941.349.3800 or emailing tess@siestakeychamber.com.
