Village Gazebo Dedicated to Charlie Valentine

In a touching ceremony appropriately held on Sunday, February 14 - Valentine's Day, the Chamber dedicated the Siesta Key Village Gazebo to the memory of former Chamber Executive Director Charlie Valentine. A bronze plaque, mounted on the inside of the Gazebo and made possible through the generosity of Richard Dear, Jennifer and Steve Moore, the Siesta Key Village Association, Smith Architects, P.A. and the Chamber was unveiled during the ceremony. A reception, held at and sponsored by the Broken Egg, with additional food provided by Crescent Beach Grocery, followed the ceremony.

| Big Shot Volleyball Season Kickoff |
The Sarasota Convention & Visitors Bureau is sponsoring the 2010 4C Totally Light 2GO Season Kickoff volleyball tournament at Siesta Key Beach on March 6th and 7th. The event is organized by East End Volleyball and is the first stop on a summer long tour that will end in Siesta Key on the weekend of October 16th. The event is expected to attract over 150 teams from across the state of Florida and the eastern United States. Registration will begin on Saturday at 8:00 am, for players competing in various men's and women's divisions.
The Chamber will be on hand to distribute goodie bags to participants and answer visitor inquiries (organized by TChamber Tourism Committee Chair Maria Bankemper). For more information, click here or contact Richard Heiles at 631-355-1293.

| SKVA Children's Easter Party and Egg Hunt |
The Siesta Key Village Association will be hosting its annual Children's Easter Party and Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 3, 2010 from 9 AM to Noon at Beach Access #5 at the intersection of Ocean Blvd. and Beach Road. All children ages 1 to 6 are invited to register and participate.
This special event is sponsored by the Siesta Key Village Association and the Beach Bazaar. Activities will include: the Easter egg hunt, face painting, games, photo opportunities with the Easter bunny, a fire truck and ambulance to explore and the Sheriff's mounted patrol.
All Easter eggs will contain prizes donated by Siesta Key Village merchants. Each child who registers will also receive a bag filled with goodies. Children should bring something to carry their collected eggs in.
Free trolley service donated by Siesta Key Island Trolley will be available from the public beach. Participants are encouraged to park at the public beach and ride the trolley to Siesta Village.

The Daiquiri Deck has reshaped its menu by offering more Oysters, Ceviche Dishes and additional Appetizers and Entrees. Each guest can now observe food preparation by their Daiquiri Deck Raw Bar Chefs at the new Fresh Seafood Display Counter......Suncoast Communities Blood Bank has announced the launch of a new campaign to motivate student donors. The campaign, "How Far Would You Go to Save a Life," utilizes eye catching posters, t-shirts and a one-minute video to speak to students in their own language, and may be viewed by clicking here.....Congressmen Vern Buchanan and John Mica (Vice Chairman, House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure) will conduct a public meeting to discuss the region's transportation needs at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Harry Sudakoff Conference Center, 5845 General Dougher Place in Sarasota.
