11th Annual Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament
On Monday, May 10, the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce will host the 11th Annual Golf Tournament in memory of former Executive Director Paul Ralston.

This year, the golf committee has managed to secure a private outing at the Ritz-Carlton Membership Club.  Because the club is typically open to members only, this presents a unique and possibly one of a kind opportunity for Chamber members and guests to play a round at this course, which was designed by world renowned architect Tom Fazio.

There are still many sponsorship opportunities available to show your support and get your name in front of tournament players and the local community.  Truly, with the deeply discounted rate we're able to offer for greens fees and dinner following the round, and the low cost, high value sponsorship opportunities open to members, we expect to have a fantastic turn out for the event.

Sponsorship opportunities start as low as $40, and the cost for a foursome is only $120 per player!

For full sponsorship and tournament details click here, or telephone us at 349.3800.

Iowa Company Targets Chamber Members

During the month of March, many Chamber members were telephoned by representatives of Premier Map Company of Davenport, Iowa in an attempt to sell ad space on a map that that company publishes.

The representatives claimed to be selling "ad renewals". In one of the incidents, the caller claimed that the ad would appear on a map that Premier Map is publishing on behalf of the Siesta Key Chamber, and that Premier Map has done such projects with the Siesta Chamber in the past.

We want to ensure that all of our members are aware that we are in no way affiliated with the Premier Map Company. Furthermore, should anyone outside of the Chamber ever contact you on behalf of the Chamber, for any reason, and you are unsure of who they are, contact the Chamber as soon as possible to confirm with us directly.

Premier Map has been the focus of multiple news stories which outline a similar scam targeting other Chambers' members across the country.

The Chamber is currently filing a complaint with the Florida Attorney General regarding both incidents.

If you have been contacted by this company, or have any questions about the scam, please follow up with by telephone at 941.349.3800, or email Kevin with the details.

"Vote No on 4" Campaign Launches Web Video

Citizens for Lower Taxes and a Stronger Economy today stepped up its campaign against Amendment 4, launching a web video to compliment its grassroots network of more than 30 campaign chairs and over 1300 volunteers.

The video focuses on
St. Pete Beach, the first community in Florida to adopt a local version of the proposed constitutional amendment.

Florida voters will see Amendment 4, which proposes to require voter approval of all changes to local comprehensive land-use plans, on the ballot this November.

SKVA Children's Easter Party and Egg Hunt

The Siesta Key Village Association will be hosting its annual Children's Easter Party and Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 3, 2010 from 9 AM to Noon at Beach Access #5 at the intersection of Ocean Blvd. and Beach Road.  All children ages 1 to 6 are invited to register and participate.

This special event is sponsored by the Siesta Key Village Association and the Beach Bazaar. Activities will include: the Easter egg hunt, face painting, games, photo opportunities with the Easter bunny, a fire truck and ambulance to explore and the Sheriff's mounted patrol.

All Easter eggs will contain prizes donated by Siesta Key Village merchants.  Each child who registers will also receive a bag filled with goodies.  Children should bring something to carry their collected eggs in.

Free trolley service donated by Siesta Key Island Trolley will be available from the public beach.  Participants are encouraged to park at the public beach and ride the trolley to Siesta Village.
